Musukuta Komma
Country Director
A passionate leader with a heart for data-driven development, Musu brings nearly two decades of experience in statistics, strategic management, and program leadership across government, international development, and non-profit sectors.
Musu’s journey began at the University of The Gambia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics in 2005. Her early career saw her shaping national health priorities as a statistician at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, where she led the management of the Health Information System and played a key role in developing impactful health policies and proposals.
In 2009, Musu joined the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS), sharpening her expertise in social statistics. There, she worked on large-scale household surveys and project evaluations, generating insights that informed national planning and policy. Her passion for evidence-based decision-making led her to Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where she pursued a master’s degree in Economics and Finance in 2012—focusing on strategic planning, financial management, and project development.
From 2015 to 2017, Musu served as the Program Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Banjul, managing a diverse portfolio of U.S. government-funded programs. She led the evaluation and monitoring of community-driven projects in health, agriculture, migration, and refugee support—ensuring resources reached those who needed them most.
Musu joined ChildFund in April 2017 as Country Director, where she continues to lead with integrity and vision. She is committed to championing the rights and well-being of children and communities—ensuring programs are inclusive, sustainable, and grounded in local realities.
