Isatou is an experienced journalist and communications specialist with more than twenty years of work in media and strategic communication. She has served in senior leadership roles within the Gambia Press Union, including President and Vice President, where she advanced ethical standards and supported efforts to strengthen gender equality in the sector.

She began her career at Gambia Radio and Television Services, progressing to Senior Producer. Her portfolio includes chairing the National Journalism Awards Committee and serving on the Gender Council of the Federation of African Journalists.

Isatou holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of The Gambia and a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy. She is also a certified filmmaker and licensed journalism trainer.

Besides her work at ChildFund, she mentors young professionals and leads capacity-building programs, including the Young Women Media and Information Literacy Initiative, where she promotes innovation, responsible storytelling, and inclusion across the media and communications field.
